CHAMPAIGN – The Illinois Public Transportation Association, representing every major transit organization in the state of Illinois, named State Senator Scott Bennett (D-Champaign) their 2021 Legislator of the Year.

“I am honored to be recognized by the IPTA,” Bennett said. “This association works to provide the best public transportation service possible, and I am proud to work with them, my fellow legislators and community leaders to ensure the people in Champaign and Vermilion Counties can get where they need to go quickly and easily.”

The award recognizes public transportation advocates in Illinois who have demonstrated significant leadership, who are outstanding role models of excellence and whose accomplishments have greatly advanced public transportation.

“Public transportation is what keeps our communities going, and I am committed to continuing my efforts to advocate for modern, convenient and accessible transportation in eastern Illinois,” Bennett said.

Bennett accepted the award in Peoria on Wednesday evening.
